allthejobs.org - powered by jobberBase

First off I would like to thank Filip for creating such a wonderful open source tool.

My site: allthejobs.org

I made a small modification on my site: separating the keywords field at the search section into "what" and "where" fields.

Since I don't have too many jobs posted yet, I'm using the xml feed from Indeed, instead of the spotlight jobs.

The site also displays local jobs to the visitor, using a geolocalization API and, again, the xml feed from Indeed.

I haven't tested this thoroughly but I think it's working fine, any help would be appreciated. (It only works with countries supported by Indeed though)

I'm also planning to use the Careerjet API and maybe others.

I'll appreciate any input, be it constructive criticism or suggestions.

Thanks!!

nice.

unfortunately, visitors leave the site when the click on such a link. Would be better if these adds were imported in total to your site, imho

some advice: drop the 'spotlight' image and text, now it is unclear what it means

Re: allthejobs.org - powered by jobberBase

Yes, I should probably drop the spotlight image now.

BTW I forgot the mention that the search also brings up results from Indeed and gives high priority to local jobs, I'm guessing it's not a good idea after all because as you say the bounce rate will be high. sad

I think maybe it should show Indeed results only when no jobs are found.

Anyway, I'm still getting some ideas and there's a lot of work to do!

I must say the site looks a lot like Jobshouts.com who have worked with indeed.

Re: allthejobs.org - powered by jobberBase

Interesting.

At first it seemed like a good idea to display Indeed jobs hmm

I'm thinking maybe the Indeed jobs should only be displayed when the search return no results from the database, that way it would be providing an extra value by showing other alternatives.

Thanks for the input!

2 things....how do you show the indeed jobs? specifically where do you put what code?

the other thing is that wouldn't importing the jobs to your database be stealing content?  is that legal to do?

Indeed specifically has a program which allows you to import their jobs. And it is legal, since Indeed is itself importing jobs from many job sites with which it has agreement. And Indeed has a affiliate program using which you can import jobs to any Job site.

Hello wtrevino,

What theme are you using in that site? Would be possible you publish that theme as GPL?

Thank you!

He is using modified Jobberbased theme available from http://cid-8e5287c7715550d7.skydrive.li … rbased.zip

Expect its v1.8 version soon. Currently it works only on 1.7. Thanks to evertsemeijn for it. Theme was earlier hosted on his site but currently site is offline.

@argie01
I'm am very busy at the moment with several projects, but in the future you can expect more Jobberbase themes made by me. The Jobberbased theme, used by allthejobs.org, is for JB 1.7 like you already know. I'll try to update it to 1.8 as you are not the only one requesting it.

Cheers, Evert

How do I add the indeed.com xml feed to the Jobberbase job board?
