Hi ,

My hosting company allows smtp relay of 1000 emails per month and i was wondering if i send emails by php mail() function , Am i using my smtp relays or are those two totally separate?

My Questions are?

1.If i use phpmail function() ,then i am just sending emails by php not by smtp relay and downside of this would be maybe my emails be unreliable and some of them would be blocked some ISPs or end up in Spam folder, but upside would be i can send as much emails as i want???

2.But if i use smtp relay to send emails then, obviously it would be send by hosting company's smtp relay and it would be limited and downside would be if i reach my limit then i have to wait till restriction expiry.But upside would be high success of email delivery wouldn't be flagged as spam

Am i correct? Please Enlighten Me?
