Topic: Payment module

Hi,

Is it possible to implement a payment module like paypal or iDeal?

The reason for this is that people don't just place ads, but ads that the ads are serious ads.

Re: Payment module

This is one of the downsides to JB. In all the time I have been evaluating it, it still doesn't have a built in payment system or module, at least not one I am aware of.

That is why i'm asking if it possible to implement it.

Re: Payment module

We have this somewhere on the roadmap, but I can't promise you anything at this point.
However, there are people who've added on their own a payment module. Any decent PHP programmer can do that, it's fairly easy with jobberBase.

Re: Payment module

If I have the time I probably can do it also, but it's easier if some else does it :-)

Maybe I'll take a look at it post it on this forum.
Maybe you can add a forumtopic with "Add-ons for JB" ??

Re: Payment module

Has anybody came up with something on this topic? I haven´t seen anybody who has implemented one yet at least not in the examples posted here.

It is difficult to run without charging something. I hope someone will build something soon.

Users please let me know what flow/methods you would like so I can evaluate the options.

Awesome stuff, payment method is the only thing I really need. It would be good to accept paypal and credit cards. And also have the option for several billing settings (Per job, per month, per year)

Cant wait to see what you come up with.

Re: Payment module

I have finished a PayPal module but can't tell you about it here as I keep getting hassled by small minded users who assert it is spamming to tell you about it here - go figure - so you'll just have to search for it elsewhere in the forums ...

Re: Payment module

Small minded? I accepted your excuse on the other topic (which you removed for some reason?), but this is insulting. I assume these people have the ability to check for new posts on the forum every now and then, especially in the most common forum area where custom mods are added.

Obviously I wouldn't mind too much if a user would ask if he could get a paypal feature *after* you posted your mod, but these are mostly topics that have gathered dust for quite a while and had no need to be revived.

Since you're selling your 'button', it just makes you seem desperate for buyers, rather than trying to be helpful to the community.

Odd. i consider it the opposite. Where else should he announce it other than the thread on which it is requested? Its only common sense.

Re: Payment module

Perhaps if it was a more isolated request, yes. I don't see the point of pasting the same reply on numerous posts, even topics that are months old. Besides that, there was already a more-or-less central topic where this 'upcoming' payment system was being discussed.

Maybe what this forum needs is some cleaning of the old and similar question topics, so there'd be a clean overview of all mods for x.x release in one part and a list of requests that aren't about the same item.

Perhaps because people like me who asked about it on this thread and this thread only get pinged when this thread is added to. That way we know its available. I don't see whats wrong with it at all. If you don't want it you can simply ignore it and unsubscribe from the thread.

Re: Payment module

This was the more or less central topic regarding the entire issue, so yes the posting in here isn't a bad thing. That doesn't include all the individual 2-post topics which I'm actually talking about. No sense in bickering on about this stuff though, it'll only get more off-topic.

Re: Payment module

Hi Zartoop,
It seems like you miss something about the Open source philosophy, why don't you just help the community with your paypal module and turn it to a donationware? I just feel like this is false to use the work of the community and ask for money for this. I don't want to think about, what could happen for jobberbase if everyone who post a code snipset here start asking for money for that! And 19 $???? I'll rather pay a good freelancer from an emerging country to do it for 50 $ or more and post it here for free than to pay for this. Don't take it personal, but I just feel like, you are doing something wrong here. We want this project to grow and filip were so kind to provide us this script, so this is just wrong, If you want to make money from it, it's ok, start selling services, but not code! They are enough hotels etc...out there which may pay for a full fonctional system to help them hire people, but selling code that may help the community may just kill this project. So just think about it. Sorry for my english (not a native speaker).

Re: Payment module

You are perfectly entitled to your opinion and in reality this forum is not for discussing issues of philosophy. However as you have opened the discussion a response is in order.

I explained quite clearly why I was charging - see the main post - users will be using the module to make money and it is fair to charge for it.

PS> Why use a programmer from and emerging country? Because they have lower standards of living and lower costs? On the basis of your reasoning of 'fairness' you should use them and pay them 1st world rates. If a 1st world programmer did this work from scratch and charged the right rate you would pay in the $100's.

Many leading open-source projects have developed and expanded with huge popularity based on combinations of free and paid components.

jobberbase is the best open-source job board available and will not die.

Chronos

Re: Payment module

I'm pretty sure nearly all job boards are used for making money (someway or another). It's not exactly the type of site for hobbyists. I don't mind either way, though I do believe these kind of communities live on free opensource and continuous development.

Re: Payment module

You all got to be kidding me..the original post started with a valid request which is in interest for all of us and ended up in a lot of BS and multiple replies about what you all think is the right thing to do.....are you serious?.....why not stick to the subject and whoever knows how to do this be so kind to post it and that's it!.
