Topic: CV manager... what do you want ?

Hi all !!!
All along the forum, i have seen a lot of people asking for some kind of CV manager to implement in jobberbase.
I'm beggining to think about it, with functions, abilities etc...
So please, tell me what do you want to see in a LIGHT cv manager (i don't want to create a new monster dot com at all, just a simple cv manager to install and use it with jobberbase !).
First thing is that i'm going to devellop it asa stand alone and then, when a first version will be released, i will implement it in jobberbase.
Now tell me all your idea !

And by the way, what about the name projet ? OpenCV ?? just tell me !

Re: CV manager... what do you want ?

Well, it's going faster than i thought !
I have integrated the ziki api to display your profile on your openCV page (yes, it's the current name of the project smile ).
I don't have a lot of idea for the fonctionnality, so feel free to tell me what you would like to see in this kind of program !

Re: CV manager... what do you want ?

Hey !
The version 0.1 is about to be released !
It's coded to work with jobberbase and ziki. There is no template system actually, but i think that the code is clean enough to be change just with the CSS.
I'm going to add a language system to let you change the ... language easily.
There is still some work to do before this release, but it will appear soon!

If you want to see some features feel free to tell me !

Re: CV manager... what do you want ?

Hi Mat, I think the Open CV concept is fantastic. I'd just want to upload my CV and keep it in my chosen format. However, you could add Burning Glass' CV parsing functionality as is seen on SimplyHired.com.

Re: CV manager... what do you want ?

Great news Mat_ !

what I can think of are social network features like friends and messages between users.. more than one picture would be nice for my website where I´ve got jobs for actors...
Possibility for companys to browse CVs, search for people... a browse by picture option would be preety cool for my personal use too smile

keep the good work!!

Thx for your comments !

I went on google to take a look about this CV parsing functionality but i didn't find anything really useful to understand what it is :s . Are you talking about the iprofile format ? Tell me more about it, and i will try to integrate it to the opencv !

I found this format, that i think is really good to, (microformat of course smile ), the hResume: http://microformats.org/wiki/hresume . It will be availible in the first release if i can, if not, in the next!

For the friends and messages features, it will be a part of the next release... I worked on the road map, and i think that i have to work first on the core of the program. So friends, messages, groups, wall are planned to be a feature.
I'm going to add a rank system later to let company rank the people the hired (and of course people rank the company).
For the picture option, i want to make this program as light as a can, so i think about an add-on for flickr. Like that, you will be able to display yours photos on your flickr account, selected by tag or group or anything else.

Your comments help me a lot so feel free to add more !

I'm going to add a small blog for the devellopment of the program, -i'll give you the link soon- here it is: http://opencv.kune.fr (don't worry, even if the link ends with a .fr, it's in english!).

Re: CV manager... what do you want ?

http://www.burning-glass.com/resumeparsing.html - Well, Burning Glass does not offer its services for free I guess... In any case do check the link provided... To see it at work, just try uploading a CV on SimplyHired.com in any format... It automatically figures out everything like the companies you have worked for and your experience and designation etc and writes it into an easily searchable format... You'd have try out SimplyHired to get the point am making.

Re: CV manager... what do you want ?

Hey the hResume format seems to be the way to go... Since LinkedIn is so popular and since it generates public profiles in the hResume format, you cd ask ppl to provide a link to their LinkedIn profile and their resume cd be extracted and loaded on to jobber.
