also these would be nice to add to the jobberbase:
    - be able to selecte cities based on state/region
    - list jobs by state/city

i've already implemented states http://jobspath.com/post/ but need the javascipt code to load the cities based on state selected... also would be a great help if Filip or someone could give the code asap that would list jobs by city, like on the original jobber site

That shows the image but it needs to hosted somewhere else
I'm talking about the possibility of adding a field in the form to upload an image to the server, resize it automatically and post it in the add.

I already did that in a script of mine but this php is too advanced for me, I'm trying to leran more to see if I can contribute with some minor changes.

    thanks

guys, this is romanian based software. the support for the US zip/state/city is going to be minimal (although i'm working on a mod to port it to work on city/state/zip). country-specific features are probably not a high priority for the team.

just try more combinations, using strong and enumeration formatting the text.
it (textile) makes me too problems, but i played with it around, an succed to have an image link

I didn’t use textile before, so i don’t know why, for example doesn’t work HERE, in this post the !imageurl!:http://… formatting

A 'How do I...?' knowledge base specifically for questions that start with 'How do I...?'
For example: a JobberWiki (cool name actually) or some central pool where users can add/edit entries.

I’ve actually put up a wiki, but didn’t get to configure it at all:
    http://www.jobberbase.com/wiki/

Can you create a user account and start posting? :)

I set up an account and began work on the Main Page and set up 1 page a sample "How do I....?" page.

People can use it as a sample outline to add/edit/delete additional page and content.

    It's a start....
(my wiki skills are young so am facing a learning curve...)

    Search: how to
and see how to eat pizza for free...

    Cheers,
    TokyoJ

    Done.

Listen, how can we add other links (to the main site, community and blog) on the wiki?

Also, is there a way to display a list with all the articles on the wiki main page?

The wiki sidebar menus (Naviagation, Search, Toolbox) can only be edited by the wiki Administrator....
This link explains how to edit the sidebar...

    http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Sidebar#Customizing_the_sidebar

If you edit it, how about starting with these categories...?
"Browse Categories" (general list of topics)
    "How to...issues"
    "Articles/News"
    "Designs issues"
    "Jobberbase Community"
    "Jobberbase Blog"

then inside each categories a subdirectory can be started. For example....a sidebar category of "How to..." will open 1 page with a list/grouping of subcategories...e.g. 'Designing', 'Plugins', "translation', etc... (these of course need to be created...but once the category is created then people can begin populating it.)

    Cheers,
    John

PS...in the Community page...it might be a useful to have a link back to the Jobberbase home page.

Another interesting feature that could be helpful is similar to this set of links at the bottom of the job description.

    http://jbadmin.kitchentwo.com/job.php?job=121

For example, for a job with these details:

    Company: AAA
    Category: BBB
    Location: CCC

The links at the end of the job description would be:

All Jobs | More jobs from AAA| More BBB jobs| More jobs in CCC.

TokyoJ, You can do that(http://jbadmin.kitchentwo.com/job.php?job=121) by just editing the template files. No core changes required.

Drop down menus / sub categories.
To increase and be more specific with the categories and increase the site to more than one industry type.

    Like:
Main cat. - Banking & Finance
    Sub cat - Tellers
    Sub cat - Admin
    Sub cat - Brokers
    Sub cat - Underwriters
    Sub cat - Assessors
    Sub cat - Consultants

@flakdesign & TokyoJ .. if you are associated with or know the guys at kitchentwo.com, you might tell them that yesterday I tried to contact them for pre-sales questions and:

    1 - Pre-sales form didn't work .. seemed to be a web site issue
    2 - Support form didn't work .. ditto
3 - emailed support and so far have not heard anything from them

I was ready to buy that script and try it, but now I'm a bit leery.

No affiliation at all...I knew about them from another Jobberbase member.
From their site it seems they just 2 guys cranking out code and selling it... Support can't be good at all.

The snapshot of their Admin page isn't readable AT ALL so I asked them for a 'real' image and they sent one. If anyone would like to see what you can't see on their site, send me a PM at search (at) gol dot com and I'll send it to you.

Always good to have info to draw from.

    1) Edit from admin
    2) "Skinnable" ie: copy default template, and modify as needed
    3) PayPal support for single and (if possible recurring payments).

paypal option, to purchase credits for posting jobs. maybe allow X free posts and after that you have to pay Y for 10 jobs, Z for 20 jobs, etc.

also I would like to be notified when someone applies for a job, maybe even the option to hold the application for pre-approvable in case SPAM get sent to my advertisers.

  1.
I would like a version 1.0 that works out of the box as a platform to add those fantastic idea you have on top.
